Auditions: The Comedy of Errors

Groombridge Village Hall, TN3 9QX

Monday 28th March and 4th April

8.00 pm

Our Summer production is set and auditions are upon us!

There are parts for any age and gender. As well as actors, we need volunteers for other roles such as Stage Manager, Producer, Dance Co-ordinator and designer, set builders, sound and lighting operator, and prompt. For acting and non acting roles you do not need any experience; we love having new people in the society and are keen to train people up.

If you can’t make the audition dates then please email us (we can do video auditions too). The performance dates will be the 7th-9th and 14th-16th July.

What is Comedy of Errors all about?

After both being separated from their identically named twins in a shipwreck when very young, Antipholus and his slave Dromio go to Ephesus to find them. The other set of twins live in Ephesus, and the new arrivals cause a series of incidents of mistaken identity. At the end, the twins find each other and their parents and resolve all of the problems caused earlier.

Do I Need to Worry it’s Shakespeare?

No, it’s basically a mixed identity romp with lots of slapstick and running about. We will go through any queries about what it means right at the start of rehearsals.

Where/when Are We Setting It?

The play will have a ‘Cuban’ feel, men in suits or colourful shirts and brightly dressed women. Lots of Salsa music and hopefully some dancing. Imagine a Shakespearian Encanto.

A fun night of improvised games and exercises run by members of the society for members and non-members alike.  Anyone interested can come although participation is mandatory - no sitting on the sidelines and just watching.

This event is a good chance to come and meet some of the society, and with no lines to learn or continued commitment, is a great opportunity for you busy bees.
